At HerbloomZ, we thoughtfully pair the herbs in each blend and make its purpose clear, giving you a straightforward place to begin. Chinese herbal tradition and its Five Elements guide how we develop these blends, with the body’s connected needs in mind. We began with matcha and coffee, familiar cups that are easy to prepare and made to be enjoyed.
Our story started in a kitchen.
Years in high-pressure Western kitchens meant long hours, irregular meals and rich food. Over time, our founder, May Hu, was dealing with chronic health issues, and enjoying the food she loved had become harder.
She returned to the herbs and food traditions she had grown up with. Alongside changes to her daily habits, that experience reshaped her approach to wellness.
At her Shanghai restaurant, she brought that approach to seasonal meals and a probiotic matcha. Guests wanted a way to bring the experience into their everyday lives. Their response encouraged her to take it beyond the restaurant.
That shared wish shaped HerbloomZ: herbal care that fits into real life, with enjoyable flavors and sensitive bodies in mind. Familiar cups of matcha and coffee became our starting point. Today, May draws on her Cornell nutrition training to develop our blends, with guidance from a third-generation Chinese medicine practitioner.
